Because that would be mean. "We" are better than that. "We" have been exploiters for so long, "We" need to make things equal. And the only practical way to make everyone the same and thereby relieve the burden of liberal guilt is to make OUR conditions worse until "We" are equal to Burkino Faso. It's a religion for the Lefties and they believe in their religion and they will enforce their religion through the power of the State. Thus, no drilling in ANWAR, etc, etc, etc. The only saving grace is that once liberal policies really start to bite, then they get voted out for a generation. The US is apparently ready for Jimmah Carter II in Obama, Clinton or McCain.
